Tributary

“Tributary” is a 15′ tall mixed media sculpture which lights up in multiple colors and is located at the Sacramento State Visitors Welcome Center. The title pays tribute to Sacramento State students, faculty, and staff while referencing the Sacramento River, and draws inspiration from the California bay laurel tree. It was conceived, designed, and built in a public art curriculum by Sacramento State students and faculty of the Department of Art for the University.

In January 2023 Andrew Connelly brought me into the 3 year in-the-making sculpture project. I was responsible for activating and creating evolving LED light patterns within the three sculptural forms. The internalized LED light show is created and controlled by LED light animation software and modulation and activated with multiple DMX controllers. Tributary LED art is considered a revolving work; the LED light codes can be altered and activated for new future presentations.
